Hello and welcome to my website! I am Dr. Catherine J. Mills. If you are seeking mental health services, here’s a little bit of info to help you decide if I am the psychologist for you!
I have a passion for helping others and for the field of psychology as a whole. I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and soon to be trained in EMDR. I specialize in working with individuals seeking assistance with recovery from traumatic life experiences, I dedicate myself to helping my clients at a pace that is most comfortable and beneficial for each individual person. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
I have had the pleasure of helping clients in various clinical settings from elementary to high schools, private practices, a Veteran’s Administration Hospital and a Naval Medical Center working with active duty military service members and veterans. I have also worked with clients working through their recovery from substance abuse and other addictions. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal and Supportive Psychotherapy techniques.

I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and Psychology. I went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from North Carolina Central University with additional training at The Center for the Study of Development and Learning with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During this training, I provided psychotherapy and conducted psychological assessments with children and adolescents with various developmental disabilities and genetic disorders. I then earned my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology, in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
